Yes, you heard right, a Subway is opening in Newport! Finally, now we have somewhere to relocate those that hang around outside McDonald's, puffing the smoke from their badly rolled fag's into the faces of innocent shoppers as they show of their new pair of Nike Airs to their tracksuit wearing chums. But on a serious note, the premises was formerly owned by the Isle of Wight Youth Trust's Sporting Chance charity sports shop, which plans to relocate soon.
The new Subway is expected to open in the beginning of may, helping to create around seven to nine permanent and part-time jobs. Although this may not seem like many, it's still enough to help bring a few of us out of this ever growing vortex of unemployment. Not only this, but we'll all be a lot healthier! Subway is much better for you than any of the other options supplied by fast food chains, and seeing that the island has the highest obesity rate in the country, this may help clamp down on those podgy-plodders that patrol our pavements.
I look forward to seeing the launch of Subway in Newport, mainly because I want to see the bread man/woman they employ, not forgetting salad man/woman.
